SICOT January 2020

We are happy to announce that the second Salon International du Coton et du Textile (SICOT) will take place on January 30th & 31st 2020 in Koudougou, Burkina Faso. This year there will be two exciting  events regarding Organic & Fairtrade cotton  supported by the West Africa Organic & Fairtrade Cotton Coalition:

On Thursday, January 30th 2020, the opening and inauguration of the ginnery for organic cotton will take place in Koudougou. We are very excited about the finalization of this project that was supported by Catholic Relief Service. The ginnery will allow for organic cotton to be processed faster as the procedure before meant that organic cotton was always ginned last due to the cleaning required between the conventional and organic cotton ginning.

On Friday, January 31st 2020, the second Regional Organic Cotton Round Table West Africa (OCRT) will take place in Koudougou. The aim of the Regional OCRT is to identify the opportunities for growth in the organic and fairtrade cotton sector, and for developing manufacturing infrastructure and textile value chains in West Africa. It is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Swiss government (SDC) as well as by the Ministry of Trade, Business and Handicraft of Burkina Faso.
